Too much to say…

June 15, 2008

Happy Father’s day to me!

My wife made me eggs and cinnamon rolls this morning. Off to church soon and then to my parents for lunch. Looks to be a good Father’s day this year.

I’ve really got a lot to write about, but not real time to sit down and think through my life the past month so I can focus on writing about it. I still like blogging, but life is just happening so fast. Here are a few hightlights until I can really write something worth reading…

Union Cross Cafe is coming up soon at church (www.unioncrosscafe.wordpress.com). Looking forward to this and hoping it turns out well.

Work is settling down somewhat. New office. Kinda nice. Bad cell reception in there, but it’s got a bit more room. Shipped my first few new stores (Niagara Falls, Portland, Williamsburg, Jacksonville, etc). Got to work and help in the warehouse. Learning some new stuff on Excel. Fun. Getting a company laptop and cell phone soon. Kinda cool. Found out I’m shipping my first new store overseas soon. Dubai…found out that’s in the Middle East…part of the United Arab Emirates, I think? Kinda cool. Shipping via ocean/boat. Interesting new set of problems to troubleshoot. Gotta source a tool kit that’s in metric measures…hmm….and need to find out the legalities and issues about shipping cleaning chemicals overseas via boat. Should be fun.

Maddie’s just about to walk. She says “da da”, “ma ma”, “Tay-Tay”, and “NO!”  Funny kid.

Taylor is really smart as I’m sure most of you already know from reading past entries. She is 2 and a half. I told her to do something yesterday and she actually said “YES SIR”. Wild! Never taught her to do that. Not sure where she picked that up.

Oh…and my buddy Chris (www.chrisbreedlove.com) is finally getting married! Bachelor party at my house on July 19th.

Ok. I know I’ve missed some new and important things, but that’s all for now. Stay tuned.

Still here…

May 28, 2008

Still here. Job is still tough and doesn’t seem to be letting up any time soon. Maybe all this running around will help me get in shape and healthy. Who knows?

Too tired to say much more.

I miss blogging.

I miss sanity.

I’m done.

The end.

My first store shipment + Indiana-Aliens

May 25, 2008

Ok…I’m officially shipping my first new store shipment for my new job this week! It’s scary and exciting at the same time. I better have my ducks in a row or there will be a very upset retail store in Williamsburg, VA next week. I’m just about to be flying 100% solo on this new job and they’ll be interviewing people for my old job soon. Crazy.

Tux fitting with Breedlove and Mr. Tubbs on Saturday was AWESOME! Best guy hang out time I’ve had in YEARS! Got fitted for tuxes…hit MOES for some good food and remembering GWU how it used to be in the “golden days”…and then saw INDY # 4 in DLP-theater. The DLP digital projection technology kinda hung up and made the movie stutter a bit for the first few minutes of the movie. Not sure how it’s digital, but the picture was clearer than normal. We just had to get past the digital hiccups. The storyline was great to start off with, but then it got weird…(SPOILER!!!)…Indy has a son…and it ends in ALIENS! Talk about jumping the shark. Yikes. No more followup movies for this series. Aliens always trump all other endings. That’s it. It ends with aliens. Aliens.

So…enjoying some days with my wife and daughters. Hoping my bro is enjoying his vacation in NY. Hope he brings me back a sweet gift. Oh…and I’m planning the most tame bachelor party in history for my boy, Chris. Should be fun.

That’s about it. More to come probably closer to the weekend.

Not much, but something…

May 22, 2008

Not much to say but here’s all I have right now…

  • No “LOST” tonight. Bummer. Better be good next week.
  • Watched “TRANSFORMERS” last night. It was AWESOME. LOVED IT. WILL OWN IT.
  • New job is kicking my butt. Literally.
  • Getting a company credit card for new job. Kinda cool.
  • Got a sweet and comfy pair of steel toe shoes for work today FREE. Sweet.
  • Looking forward to the weekend. Fitted for Tuxes for B-love’s wedding on Saturday and going to see the new Indy movie. NICE.
  • Keep hearing a lot about SCC’s loss. I’m sure you’ve heard about it by now. I won’t re-hash it here. At a loss for words.

That’s about it. Have a great evening.

A new job for the new me…

May 19, 2008

It’s official. I got the new job I had been implying that I might get. I’ve officially moved over to the Retail section as an account manager. It’s been crazy training on 2 of my old jobs while trying to learn a new one myself. Been pulling EARYLY mornings (up at 3am and at work at 4am) and staying later (til about 5pm), and missing lunch sometimes too. It’s been tough, but God is blessing us and getting me through.

My sister just got a job today after weeks of looking. Praise God!

The girls have been their crazy selves lately. Taylor has not been taking naps or going down to bed at night well. She actually pulled down the (BIG) mirror in her room the other night and it scared the crap outta her. Somehow it didn’t break and shatter, but it made her cry. Maddie is closer to walking and is really trying to talk. She points at me and says “da da” and she can say “NO” when she gets really mad.

I thnk that’s about all of the updates I can think of right now.

Keep us in your prayers if you’re prayin’ folk. God bless and have a good night.

Playing catch-up

May 11, 2008

So…I think it’s been a while since I last blogged. Life has been a bit crazy, to say the least. Work, home, church, and everthing else.

I’ve pulled out a lot at church so if you’re a church buddy reading this then realize that I miss hanging out with you on Wednesdays, playing music, teaching music and just hanging out. Hopefully life will slow down later this summer so I can re-focus on some ministry and fellowship areas of life.

Home life is good, but is testing my limits of health and stamina. The girls have been TONS of fun. Maddie is still on the verge of walking and Taylor’s vocabulary is always growing. There’s been a weird mix of days where I’ve spent a LOT of time at home with them, and then there’ve been days where I basically get home just in time to help get them ready for bed and kiss them goodnight. This is mostly due to work changes which I’ll discuss in a moment in the paragraph below. The weather’s been crazy too. Wild mix of warm and cool weather with some crazy storms and tornado threats to boot.

Work….hmmm…where do I start? Well, you’ve probably heard me say before on this blog that I’ve been juggling 2 jobs since a co-worker has been out on extended leave. Well, I finally found out that this co-worker is NOT coming back to work. Now we’re behind in a lot of areas and I’m scrambling to help get things caught up. We finally brought in a temp to take over this job vacancy and I spent all last week training her. This also put me behind as well, but it will pay off in the long run. To top things off…I’ve accepted a new job in our Custom Retail Solutions group and I’ll be moving my office down the hall to fill in for a woman who is leaving the company at the end of the month. I’ve got a very few days this week to train to learn how to do large orders for new retail stores opening across the country. We do these for some REALLY big name companies that I’d know you’d recognize, but I won’t name drop here for a few reasons…ask me in person if you really care to know. Anyways…my new job has the potential to stress me out and I’ve got some crazy shoes to fill. It’s totally different from anything I’ve done before within the company and I’m under a time crunch, too. The good news is that it’s a small step up in pay and a move upward in a rapidly growing sector of our business. There’s a lot of innovation in this area and it has national exposure which will help in any future moves as well. I’m excited and scared at the same time. My hours are changing a bit and I’ll have a new set of co-workers to get used to working with on a daily basis.

So…with all of that in mind…I’m exhausted and nervous and excited. All of these things have prevented me from blogging much. With everything going on I’ve been pulling about 10 to 13 hour days at work and losing a lot of sleep. Oh…and I just got REALLY sick this past Thursday, which has spread to my family as well. We’ve spent all weekend together trying to enjoy our time with good food and hanging out while trying to deal with the sick, yucky feelings.

Oh…congrats go out to my buddy Jon Beam and his new wife. I was supposed to be a groomsman in their wedding this weekend, but I have been really sick.

I think I hit the high points. I’ll try to follow up this post with more frequent updates and pictures or videos.

Hope your Mother’s day was great. Did you remember to send your mom a card?

SOS dialing! Who knew?

May 3, 2008

So I was letting my two and half year old play with one of my old Samsung brand cell phones. It’s about 4 years old or so. It’s a GSM phone that uses SIM cards…so of coures I was sure she couldn’t accidentally make any phone calls…. WRONG!

Apparently this phone has an SMS dialing mode. Hit a few certain buttons and it can dial and emergency service (like 911, I guess?) and someone will respond. So…I was folding laundry and turned around to hear my daughter talking to someone on the phone. NO WAY! I grabbed the phone from her and the screen said “SOS”. Holy crap. I slammed the phone shut and I turned the power off. Yikes.

I won’t make that mistake again.

I caught a princess…

April 26, 2008

Today is my wife’s 25th birthday…which means Maddie will be 1 in July, Taylor will be 3 in August, I will be 28 in October…and my sister will be 30!

Brittany and I are going out to eat tonight (Thanks to Mike Lewis…what a guy!) and then heading to my sister’s concert at Common Grounds Coffeehouse in Colfax, NC. Anazao will be playing with her. It should be fun. I should hopefully be reconnecting with an old friend of mine from college tonight at the coffeehouse, too (hope to see you there, Scott!).

Oh…what did I get my wife…well…it’s more like what was I smart enough NOT to get. That list is HUGE. We’re letting her pick her own gifts, but Taylor and I did go out this morning before Britt and Maddie woke up and got Britt a small birthday cake, a frappucino (she likes those), some doughnuts, and some orange juice for breakfast. Not the most extravagant, but it was fun.

I guess that’s about it for now. Britt’s off at a women’s luncheon with her mom and I’m bloggin’ while the girls nap. Gotta run, but I’ll hopefully be posting some big news soon (*with fingers crossed*). Stay tuned.

Enjoy the pictures of Taylor, my little princess…
